Recently we interacted with the Key person Ms. Vaishnavi Reddy Bezawada, Co-Founder at Unsweetened Beauty. Her entrepreneurial journey has been inspiring for many youngsters who dream to be an entrepreneur. Here’s what she has to say about her journey and experience.

What have been the biggest challenges you’ve had to overcome ?

My biggest challenges have been my biggest lessons. I feel very grateful and fortunate for all my experiences that are derived from the challenges that I faced. As cliché as it sounds, being a girl people just don’t take you as seriously as they would take a man, right from family and friends to colleagues and professionals. This challenge motivated me to work harder as I felt I had to work harder to prove my self.

What does revolution mean to you ?

I feel revolution is linked to hope. Revolution should make people feel better or make something better than we found it. We are on a mission to revolutionize the beauty and skincare industry by redefining the traditional beauty standards through our medical-grade products that are effective and address skin concerns.

How has the industry changed over the years ?

The lifestyle and beauty industry especially the skincare industry has changed over the years. Companies, brands, and individuals are trying to start conversations around skin positivity and are moving away from skin whitening or lightening creams.

When it comes to the company, what are you most proud of ?

When it comes to the company, I feel proudest of making someone feel empowered. The time when someone messaged us saying the first time, they dared to take a photo without a filter was after they spoke to us about their skin concerns.

What do you see as the most difficult task in being in your Industry ?

Customers are overwhelmed with the number of beauty products and are confused the unrealistic beauty standards and expectations. The most difficult task in the industry is to change people’s mindset as people still believe homemade products, chemical-free products are best whereas, water itself is a chemical! We are here to change people’s mindset through scientific evidence and stating facts as facts and not sugarcoat them.
Unsweetened beauty is here to make individuals feel empowered through three ways i.e., knowledge which is achieved through unsweetened skin school + sense of belonging via the unsweetened family that is a community where people share stories, learn from others & redefine the unrealistic beauty standards & finally treatment product that is pleasant to use and have real medical benefits.

How do you encourage creative thinking within your organization ?

We are trying to build a team where everyone’s opinions are valued regardless of the employee’s role. We encourage our team members to be proactive and come up with their ideas once we give them an overview of what is required. And last but not the least, appreciating and rewarding others.

Which one thing do you wish you’d done differently ?

Being in the very initial stage of our startup, establishing proper procedures has been quite difficult. This taught me that most things don’t go according to a plan but it is still very important to have a plan because it gives direction and structure.
