Dr. Vinodkumar Rangrao Patil, CMD- Dyna Biotech

Dr. Vinodkumar Patil is a Microbiologist Ph.D. by profession. After completing M. Sc in Microbiology, he started his professional career in 1993. He served in the world’s best biotech industries like Lupin, B. Braun Biotech (Germany), Sartorius, Shantha Biotech (Sanofi Group Company), and Serum Institute of India in responsible directive positions. He was a leader in successfully acquiring WHO pre-qualification of pentavalent vaccine for pediatric application at Serum Institute.

Entrepreneurial Journey of Dr. Vinodkumar Rangrao Patil

In 2013 he started his entrepreneurial journey and founded his own company in Pune under the name of Dyna Biotech. The main goal of Dyna Biotech is to provide clients with the latest biotech equipment and products used in the manufacturing of vaccines, antibiotics, etc.

His diversified experience of 30 years includes cleanroom design, equipment design, manufacturing, validation, and setting up processes for microbial and cell culture products.  He has installed plants, equipment, and processes for more than 200 projects and manufactured more than 6000 Biotech equipment. He has customized approximately 30 Biotech products and equipment including vaccines, therapeutics, probiotics, diagnostics, antibiotics, steroids, etc. Dr. Patil showcases matchless and inspiring experts in the field of biotechnology.

Overcoming Covid- 19

Covid-19 and lockdown phase was a challenging situation for Dyna Biotech and the team. Raw material, tools, transport, and finance were major problems and every day was a challenging day for almost 2 years. This period taught everyone new ways of doing business and to keep all possible uncertainties in mind while doing any major, or minor activity in the future.

Way of work process that is followed in Dyna Biotech

From day one every employee has to follow the system of submitting KRA every day before the end of the day. They do self-rating. The company has the GOAL to double the turnover and profit every year. Every department head has major/minor GOALs to achieve for each financial year, to achieve the target turnover. We work on GANTT chart, macro, and micro plans. The company does greenfield and brownfield projects for vaccines, therapeutics, and anticancer products for Biotech companies in India and abroad. We follow WHO, and US_FDA standards hence, annual min 100 Hours of training is compulsory for each employee. All these standards have helped Dyna Biotech to emerge as a global brand with more than 60% export business every year.

We contributed to setting up facilities in India and abroad for 650 million doses of commercialized COVID-19 vaccine. I have contributed as a consultant, and my company and teams have completed these emergency projects in the shortest of time, given the desperate times. “These days, due to the recent world crisis, investors are focused on life science, and the investment is diverted from the IT, and Pharma sector to Biotech, Nutraceuticals, Probiotics, and other life science professions. Scientists are working on faster delivery systems and technologies to tackle the problems in the field of biology.

What do you see as the most difficult task in being in your Industry?

The most difficult task is to train Indians and convince the values of quality and consistency. Technical institutions are not changing syllabus and style to produce talented professionals for the industry. Young professionals need to gain the knowledge and practical skills to develop newer technologies to make advancements in all fields of science. To do this, people need to be given trainings on all latest technologies and the educational system needs to implement the same in their curriculum.
