THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU’VE HAD TO OVERCOME ?
In February 2018 I suffered a paralytic stroke due to which the right side of my body was paralyzed and I was hospitalized for nearly a month. My friends and my family supported me a lot at that time as without that I wouldn’t be able to overcome my body deficiency and start my life again.
WHAT DOES REVOLUTION MEAN TO YOU ?
Revolution means to us that when the circumstances are not in our favour, we need to find the alternate ways we could adopt to make things according to us as we believe in providing quality services to our clients at their doorstep. In the covid era, we use AI to provide services to our clients through video conferencing. In covid times we started giving services to our clients 24×7 through video conferencing.
HOW HAS THE INDUSTRY CHANGED OVER THE YEARS ?
India being a developing country, our laws and the legal system are still evolving. The entire global outlook towards the legal system is changing. In 2001 when I started my law career things were quite different. We used to have just 2 district courts in Delhi and the number of tribunals has also been established. The competition in the legal field has also grown a lot.
WHEN IT COMES TO THE COMPANY, WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF ?
The moment when we can bring a Judgement in favour of our client it means a lot for us because somewhere it is a satisfaction that the work, we have promised we have fulfilled.
WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE MOST DIFFICULT TASK IN YOUR INDUSTRY ?
The most difficult task in our industry is to convince the client as they constantly ask when will the judge pronounce the decision in their favour but they fail to understand the complexities of the legal system because of which lawyers are unable to anticipate when shall the decision be pronounced. .
WHAT ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISIONS YOU MAKE AS A LEADER OF YOUR ORGANIZATION ?
Being a leader of an organization is very hard as you need to look at every aspect of the company. In 2015 we began with an office consisting of a single room catering to just one lawyer and a few files and books. As we grew, not only did the work grow but so did the size of the firm grow and so did the number of lawyers.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS ?
After the privatization of the economy, a lot of MNC and foreign companies are opening their offices in India but still, their legal departments are looked after by the team of their foreign advocates who are not aware of Indian laws and working styles of the Indian courts. Our company has started working with many of those MNC but still, our main aim is to collaborate with top MNCs to capture the maximum share in the legal industry.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU ARE NOT AT WORK ?
I like to travel. I have travelled to various countries like UK, USA Switzerland Finland, etc. I like to know about the culture of different people, the law and the customs of the different countries.
WHICH ONE THING DO YOU WISH YOU’D DONE DIFFERENTLY ?
I shifted from the corporate world to the litigation world as I was earlier working with Kotak Mahindra Bank for 11 years and then I decided to set up my own firm. Therefore, initially, it was very difficult for me to handle the clients as an independent lawyer. with the Court work but soon I was able to understand the nature of the client and I was able to understand the court procedures which made me a versatile lawyer.
WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE TO OUR READERS ?
There is no substitute for hard work. The new generation lawyers are trying to find shortcuts for success which abandon them for being a successful lawyer. Legal industry always requires consistent learning.
As when I saw the new generation of lawyers finding the shortcuts for the work it impedes me a lot as the legal industry always requires continuous learning. It is a lifelong process.
