It further said that general insurers are advised to consider HPR ID as a form of verification to validate/certify medical practitioners while issuing or renewing policies for medical malpractice under professional indemnity cover.
The circular issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) states that it will enable digitization and ease the process of buying and selling professional indemnity policies and promote HPR registration among healthcare professionals. Under HPR, a Healthcare Professional ID (HPID) generated through Aadhaar or other KYCwith medical qualification. HPID Also verified by their respective State Medical Councils.
HPID serves as a unique ID for medical practitioners to enable linkage with all stakeholders of the healthcare ecosystem.
