The MoU will enable the company to conduct multiple test and access facilities at various ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) centers for testing and qualification of its single-piece 3D printed semi cryo engine and other systems. It will also enable Agnikul, located at the National Combustion Research and Development Center at IIT-Madras, Chennai, to leverage ISRO’s technical expertise for testing and qualification of its Space Launch Vehicle systems and sub-systems.
Agnikul said the MoU would enable ISRO to go ahead with its test plans formally. “With this level of government support, low Earth orbit looks closer,” tweeted the company, which raised an $11 million Series A round from institutional and angel investors earlier this year.

Top officials of Agnikul met DoS Secretary and ISRO Chairman K SivanWho assured all support from DoS to qualify Agnikul Launch Vehicle System. ISRO Scientific Secretary and Chairman, Interim in the space (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre) Committee, R Umamaheswaran on Friday signed the MoU on behalf of DoS and Agnikul CEO Srinath Ravichandran signed it on behalf of the company.
DoS based in Hyderabad. entered into a similar MoU with Skyroot Aerospace Last week for access to ISRO facilities and expertise in development and testing of sub-systems/systems of space launch vehicles.

Meanwhile, earlier this week, the Chairman of ISRO inaugurated the Spacecraft Research Laboratory at Bellatrix Aerospace located on the Indian Institute of Science campus.
According to ISRO, this privately funded propulsion lab has in-house facilities for developing and testing electric and green chemical propulsion technologies. Sivan commended the young team for setting up the state-of-the-art facility, which has equipment like integrated thermal high vacuum test facilities, catalytic reactors, propellant preparation facilities and specialized high temperature coating facilities.
