“Beware of fraudulent customer care numbers. Please visit the official website of SBI for correct customer care number. Sharing confidential banking information with anyone should be avoided,” the bank said through a tweet on its official Twitter handle.

This is not the first time the bank has issued such advisory to its customers. Earlier, there have been instances where customers have been duped by calling the customer care number mentioned on Google search for bank, food delivery app etc.

Along with the tweet, the bank has also posted an instructional video online, explaining to the customers how they can avoid fraud.

According to the video, the account holder should not share his personal details i.e. bank account number while calling the customer care center. Debit Card Details, CVV, One-time Password (OTP), ATM PIN e.t.c. The bank also sends SMS to its customers to remind them that SBI never asks for confidential information like PIN and OTP from customers. Any such call can only be made by a fraudster. Please do not share personal information.

Also, the customer care numbers should be verified from the official website of the bank before making the call.
