The fund has a large presence in small caps beyond its mid cap focus given the fast, long growth runway for small businesses. With a healthy position in its top bets, the fund portfolio is reasonably diversified. The fund manager prefers businesses that offer scalability with a multi-year compounding opportunity. The fund’s performance between 2016 and 2019 did not do well with early bets on economic recovery. However, the fund has made a strong showing since 2020 with the fund ranking in the top quartile in its category. On top of this the presence of an experienced fund manager gives comfort for the long term.
