The pre-requisite of the ancestral property is that it should not be divided by the users in a Hindu Undivided Family (HUF) because once the property is partitioned, the share or portion that each coparcener gets after the partition is his or his self-acquired property. Therefore, any property divided through partition deed, gift deed, family arrangement etc loses its ancestral character.
