Reserve Bank On Monday, it said it has started the next round of its order book, inventory and capacity utilization survey (OBICUS). Construction companies, the results of which provide valuable inputs for monetary policy making. 58th round barrier is for the period April-June 2022.

Information collected in the survey includes quantitative data on new orders received during the reference quarter, backlog of orders at the beginning of the quarter, pending orders at the end of the quarter, and total inventory with breakups between finished goods.

The level of capacity utilization is inferred from these responses.

“The survey provides valuable inputs for monetary policy formulation,” RBI said.

The central bank has been operating the manufacturing sector OBICUS on a quarterly basis since 2008.

RBI has also started the 2021-22 round of its survey International trade in banking services (ITBS).

Conducted annually since 2006-07, the survey provides information on financial services provided by branches/subsidiaries/joint ventures of Indian banks operating abroad and by branches/subsidiaries of foreign banks operating in India. India,
