Prime Minister Narendra Modi Launched on Sunday 75 digital banking units (DBU) with the objective of promoting financial inclusion in 75 districts.

Union Finance Minister attended the function Nirmala Sitharaman And reserve Bank of India ,reserve Bank of India) Governor Shaktikanta Das via virtual mode, reported ANI.

75 DBUs were established in 75 districts of the country to commemorate 75 years of independence of the country.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), DBUs will be brick-and-mortar outlets that will provide various types of digital banking facilities to the people such as opening savings accounts, balance-cheques, printing passbooks, transfer of funds, investment in fixed deposits, loan applications, withholding Payment instructions for checks made, applications for credit and debit cards, tax and bill payments and enrollment.

The PMO statement said that DBU will enable customers to provide affordable, convenient access to banking products and services and an enhanced digital experience throughout the year. The DBU is being set up to ensure that the benefits of digital banking reach every nook and corner of the country and cover all the States and Union Territories.

11 public sector banks, 12 private sector banks and one small finance bank are participating in this effort. it said they would spread digital financial literacy And there will be special emphasis on cyber security awareness and customer education on security measures.

In addition, there should be adequate digital mechanism for real time assistance and redressal of customer complaints arising out of business and services offered by DBUs directly or through trade facilitators and correspondents.
