kinetic green Energy & Power Solutions Ltd plans to launch a range of “beautifully different golf carts”, Chief Executive Officer Sulajja Firodia Motwani said in an interview with Bloomberg Television.
“The golf cart market is a $3 billion market, and it is primarily dominated by markets in North America, the Middle East and parts of Asia where there is a lot of tourism.” “Golf carts are used not only for golf, but also for hospitality, airports and hotels etc. Therefore, this project of ours, this particular arm of Kinetic Green, will be focused on global markets.”
While India lags behind most major markets in electrification of its cars, the South Asian nation has seen growth electric scooter and auto rickshaws, driven by low prices and government support. According to data from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, two- and three-wheelers accounted for 81% of India’s total automobile market, about 19 million units, as of March.
Kinetic Green, which currently manufactures three-wheeled electric vehicles and is developing two e-scooters, expects to clean 70% of those vehicles on Indian roads over the next decade, Motwani said. He added that given the size of that market, India could lead the world in terms of the percentage of electric vehicles in the transportation sector over the next 10 years.
