UMANG App is an integrated app that can be used to access various pan India e-Government services including Income Tax filing. Aadhaar and Provident Fund Queries, Gas Cylinder Booking, and Passport Seva. UMANG App is one of the avenues of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) Members can take to withdraw money from their PF account.

EPF can be withdrawn partially or fully. When a person retires or remains unemployed for more than two months, he is entitled to withdraw the EPF balance in full. Partial EPF withdrawal is allowed in specific cases, such as for medical reasons, marriage, home loan repayment, and so on.

To withdraw funds from EPF, however, a Universal Account Number (UAN) must be linked to an Aadhaar number.

Here is how to withdraw money from one’s EPF account using UMANG app.

How to register for UMANG App using mobile number

Step 1: Download UMANG App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store

Step 2: Open the app and select “New User”.

Step 3: On the ‘Registration’ screen enter your mobile number and select ‘Proceed’. Mobile number verification page will appear.

Step 4: Enter the OTP and then proceed to set the MPIN. After typing the MPIN, click on ‘Confirm MPIN’.

Step 5: Select ‘Proceed’, answer the security question, and then proceed.

Step 6: Enter your Aadhaar number if you want to link it, or click on ‘Skip’ to go to ‘Profile Information Screen’ where you have to fill your profile information and then click on ‘Save and Proceed’ Click.

Step 7: This completes the registration process and you will be redirected to the home screen

Now you will be able to log in to the app using your Aadhaar number. The information will be used for electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) reasons. Once the profile is created, the Aadhaar information is automatically copied to the UMANG profile.

How to withdraw EPF money from UMANG App?

Step 1: To use the services of the mobile app, open the app on your phone and log in.

Step 2: Select ‘All Services’ from the drop-down menu and select ‘Search’EPFO,

Step 3: Select the ‘Raise Claim’ option from the drop-down menu.

Step 4: To generate an OTP, you need to submit your EPF UAN number.

Step 5: Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) which was sent on your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Select the type of withdrawal and complete the form.

Step 7: After successfully submitting the request, you will receive an acknowledgment slip or claim reference number. You can use the reference number to track the status of your withdrawal request.

The app can also be used for pension withdrawal, requesting a COVID-19 advance and accessing the employee’s passbook. Member can request a Scheme Certificate, UAN Activation and Allotment.
