Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched Aadhaar Paperless offline e-KYC which is a secure, shareable document that can be used for offline identity verification by people with Aadhaar numbers. This will allow service providers and Offline Verification Seeking Organizations (OVSEs) to verify the Aadhaar number without having to collect or hold it.

What data is included in e-KYC

While downloading/receiving offline e-KYC data, the XML contains the following fields which you will find on the UIDAI website:

  • Resident Name
  • Download Reference Number
  • Know
  • Photo
  • gender
  • date of birth / yob
  • Mobile Number (in hashed form)
  • Email (in hashed form)

According to the UIDAI website, one must follow these steps to generate Aadhaar offline e-KYC:

Step 1: Visit
https://resident.uidai.gov.in/offlineaadhaar

Step 2: Enter your ‘Aadhaar Number’ or ‘VID’ and enter the security code

Step 4: Click on ‘Send OTP’ or ‘Enter TOTP’

Step 5: OTP for the given Aadhar number or VID will be given on the registered mobile number.

Also, TOTP will be available through UIDAI’s m-Aadhaar mobile application. Enter the OTP/TOTP received.

Step 6: After entering your Aadhaar/VID generate a 4-character share code. Using the same share code, a zip file containing the resident’s paperless offline eKYC will be password protected. The important point to note here is that this “share phrase” must be provided to the agencies so that key The data is to be read.

Click on the ‘Download’ button after entering a share code, which is the password for the zip file.

Step 7: The digitally signed XML will be transferred to the device where the following steps are performed in the form of a ZIP file.
