When an Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) subscriber retires, a pension payment order will be allotted to him (PPO), a 12-digit number assigned to each pensioner covered by the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS).

Pensioners can check their pension status EPFOPensioner’s Portal. The 12 digit PPO number is unique for each pensioner/family pensioner and it works as a reference number for any communication. Pensioners can check their pension status and register complaints using their 12 digit PPO number. If you do not know about your PPO number, then follow the steps given below.

How to know your PPO number

Step 1: Log on to www.epfindia.gov.in

Step 2: Under Online Services, click on Pensioner Portal

Step 3: You will be redirected to ‘Pensioners Welcome Portal’. Click on ‘Know your PPO number’ which is mentioned on the right side of the page

Step 4: Enter your bank account number or PF number.

Once the required data is entered, you will be given your PPO number, member ID and pension type.

Please check the Pensionary Awards included in your PPO to ensure that they are accurate and as per the current regulations. According to the Pensioners Portal, “In case of any correction required in the PPO, please contact your Head of Office/Pension Disbursing Agency for necessary action in this regard.”
