(SB I) Kisan credit card (KCC) provides timely and adequate credit to farmers to meet their farming expenses. It also addresses the contingencies of farmers and expenses related to ancillary activities through a simplified process, allowing borrowers to avail loans based on their needs.

Here’s a look at the features, benefits, interest rate, eligibility and process to apply for SBI’s Kisan Credit Card, according to a press release issued by the bank.

Features and Benefits

  • KCC will be like a revolving cash credit account
  • The balance in the account, if any, will receive the savings bank interest rate
  • Tenure: 5 years, subject to annual review with 10% annual increase in the limit every year
  • Interest Subvention: 3% interest subvention for immediate borrowers up to Rs.3 lakh
  • Repayment: Repayment period as per crop period (short/long) and marketing period for the crop
  • Allotment of RuPay cards to all eligible KCC borrowers
  • Accident insurance of Rs 1 lakh for RuPay cardholders once the card is activated once in 45 days

Eligibility

  • All farmer-individual/joint borrowers who are proprietor farmers
  • Tenant farmers, oral lessees, sharecroppers, etc.
  • SHGs or Joint Liability Groups of farmers including tenant farmers, sharecroppers etc.

Rate of interest

  • Up to Rs 3 lakh: 7%
  • Above Rs 3 lakh: As applicable from time to time

Insurance

  • KCC borrowers below the age of 70 years are covered under Personal Accident Insurance Scheme (PAIS).
  • The crops eligible under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) include

  • Collateral: Mortgage / charges on agricultural land (collateral security is exempted for:

  • Farmers can also directly visit SBI branch and ask for KCC application form
  • Fill the required details and submit to the branch
  • The bank will review the application, verify the applicant’s details and approve the card
