A pensioner can avail the services provided by many public sector banks and postal service of the country to submit his life certificate.
According to a circular issued by the department pension And Pensioners Welfare On September 20, 2021, pensioners can submit Jeevan Pramaan to digital life certificate submission using Doorstep Banking Alliance of 12 Public Sector Banks or Doorstep Service of Department of Posts.
Here’s how to submit your life certificate through these doorstep services.
Doorstep Banking Alliance: It is an alliance among 12 public sector banks to provide services at the doorstep of the customer. The banks in the alliance include State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB), Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Maharashtra, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab and . Sind Bank, UCO Bank and Union Bank of India. The alliance has launched the service for collection of life certificates under the umbrella of doorstep banking services.
How to take advantage: The pensioner has to first book the service through the mobile app, website or by calling the toll-free number. The doorstep agent will visit the pensioner’s house on the date and time as per the appointment.
According to the alliance’s website, “In the current pandemic situation, it is difficult for customers, especially pensioners, to visit the branch for submission of Life Certificates. PSB Alliance has launched Digital Life Certificate submission through Door Step Banking. The pensioner can book the service through any channel i.e. DSB App/Web Portal/Toll Free No. The DSB agent will collect the Jeevan Pramaan app online by visiting the customer’s doorstep.

Keep in mind that the bank may charge a fee for availing this doorstep service. However, the coalition’s website does not mention such allegations. According to SBI’s website, Rs 75 plus GST is levied on financial and non-financial services.
Doorstep service for submission of Digital Life Certificate through Postman: In November 2020, the Department of Posts along with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology launched the doorstep service for submission of Digital Life Certificate through postman.
According to the circular of the Department of Pensions, “To make this facility available all over the country, DoPPW has provided door-to-door facility to the pensioners using its vast network of postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks in India Post Payments Bank (IPPB). to be included in the life certificate digitally.” To avail this service, the pensioner has to download the ‘PostInfo’ app.
How to take advantage: According to the India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) website, this service is available for IPPB and non-IPPB customers. To avail the Digital Life Certificate (DLC) service, the customer can approach the nearest post office or request door-to-door visit by postman/Gramin Dak Sevak. Department of Posts has also enabled scheduling of doorstep requests through Post Info App or website http://ccc.cept.gov.in/covid/request.aspx.
Moreover, issuance of DLC is completely paperless, seamless and hassle-free process, and the certificate is generated instantly. On successful completion, a proof ID is generated which is directly shared with the pensioner by the National Informatics Center (NIC). After the Pramaan ID is generated, pensioners can download the DLC through the link https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/ppouser/login. For each successful generation of DLC, a nominal fee of Rs 70 (inclusive of GST/Cess) will be charged. No doorstep charges will be levied for IPPB or non-IPPB customers for issue of DLC.
A pensioner needs to keep the following documents handy to generate a Digital Life Certificate:
- Aadhaar number
- existing mobile number
- type of pension
- sanctioning authority
- PPO Number
- Account Number (Pension)
Note that the Aadhar number of the pensioner should be registered with the Pension Disbursing Agency (Bank/Post Office etc.).
