If you check the status of your income tax return on the income tax e-filing website, any of these options will be shown depending on the status of your refund.

a) “Refund Issued” with mode of payment, refund amount and date of withdrawal of refund.

b) “Refund Failure” with reason of failure, date of communication and registered email id.

c) ‘Refund on Hold’ with link for response to outstanding demand, date of communication, your registered email id where it has been sent.
