The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDA) said that 24 of these general insurance companies saw a 4.2 per cent increase in their gross direct premium to Rs 13,566.39 crore during the month.

For the five standalone private sector health insurance providers, gross direct premiums stood at Rs 1,516.77 crore in November, up nearly 30 per cent from the year-ago period.

However, two special PSU insurer- Agricultural Insurance Company Limited and ECGC Ltd – reported a decline of nearly 10 per cent in their combined gross direct premium to Rs 660.06 crore during the month.

According to IRDA data, on a cumulative basis, the gross direct premiums written by all insurance companies grew by 11.72 per cent to Rs 1,42,128.88 crore during the April-November period of FY22.
