The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare announced the extension through an office memorandum dated December 1, 2021.
According to the office memorandum, “In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in various states and the spread of coronavirus among the elderly population, it has now been decided to extend the existing deadline for submission of life certificates.” To be extended. All age groups of pensioners with effect from 30/11/2021. Now, all Central Government pensioners can submit life certificates by 31st December 2021. During this extended period, without any interruption by the Pension Disbursing Authority (PDA) Payment of pension of Rs.
Extension can prevent crowding at bank branches and ensure that COVID-19 appropriate behavior is maintained while obtaining life certificates. The memorandum states that the PDA will ensure proper arrangement and social distancing measures in the branches and prevent overcrowding.
It is important to note that pensioners above the age of 80 years can submit life certificate from October 1 every year. Other government pensioners can submit life certificate starting from 1st of November every year.
However, pensioners from the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995, they can submit the life certificate for the whole year, any time before the expiry of one year.

Ways to submit life certificate
The department has issued an office memorandum in September 2021 describing the various methods using which life certificate can be submitted by the pensioner.
A pensioner can submit the life certificate either physically (by visiting a bank, post office, by availing door-to-door service) or digitally.
