Recent headlines have made for some uncomfortable reading. The rupee hit a record low against the dollar, in turn costing the greenback Rs 80. The local currency depreciated around 8% against the dollar since early 2022, before pulling back in recent days. This sharp depreciation of the rupee threatens to inflict some pain on the domestic finances. At a time when inflation is already on the rise, a weakening of the rupee means
