Thanks to the introduction of the e-passbook facility, post office small savings customers will be able to access their account information whenever they want, from any location, and without the need for net banking or mobile banking access.

The Department of Posts, through a notification dated October 12, 2022, said, “The Competent Authority has decided to introduce e-passbook facility from 12.10.2022 to provide simple and advanced digital facilities to the National (Small) Savings Scheme account holders.” ”

The account holder can use the registered mobile phone to use the e-passbook facility. The postal department said that this service is available free of cost.

The facilities available under e-passbook will be as follows:

Balance Enquiry:- User can view each National Savings Scheme account balance using this option.

Mini Statement: Mini Statement will be provided initially for PO Savings Accounts (POSA), Sukanya Samriddhi Accounts (SSA), and Public Provident Fund Account (PPF), and then gradually will be made available for other schemes. The most recent 10 transactions will be shown, and a short description can be downloaded in PDF format.

Full Details: Complete details will be made available gradually.

The customer can create an account statement for a specified time frame.

E-Passbook: How to Check PPF, Savings Account, Sukanya Samriddhi Account Balance

Step 1: Click on the e-passbook link given on www.indiapost.gov.in or www.ippbonline.com.

Step 2: Enter Mobile Number and Captcha > Login > Enter OTP > Submit

Step 3: Select e-Passbook

Step 4: Select Scheme Type, Enter Account Number, Registered Mobile Number and Captcha > Continue > Enter OTP > Verify

Step 5: Select the option

(a) Balance enquiry

(b) Mini Statement

(c) Full details

Depending on the service chosen by the customer, balance or mini or full details will be displayed.

Mobile number must be registered

If the mobile number entered is not linked to the account, the system will display the appropriate error message. In these circumstances the account holders are asked to link their mobile numbers with their accounts by visiting the post office where the account is located.

No need to go to post office to print passbook to know balance or transaction. Can be reached anytime, anywhere, any day at no cost. No need to have separate internet banking credentials or mobile banking app.
