Next week is the festival of Dussehra and banks will remain closed for a few days in some states. It is a national holiday on 5 October (Wednesday). In some states, October 3 (Monday) and October 4 (Tuesday) will also be holidays. In many states, they also celebrate Maha Ashtami, Maha Navami and Vijaya Dashami (Dussehra).

October 3 (Monday): Durga Puja (Maha Ashtami) – Banks are closed in Tripura, Orissa, Sikkim.

Manipur, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Kerala.

October 4: (Tuesday)- Durga Puja/Dussehra (Maha Navami)/Ayudha pooja/Janmotsav of

Srimanta Sankardeva- Banks are closed in Agartala, Karnataka, Orissa, Sikkim, Kerala.

Maharashtra, Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Meghalaya.

October 5: (Wednesday)- Durga Puja/Dussehra (Vijaya Dashmi)/Janmotsav of Srimanta

Sankardeva- Banks are closed in all states except Manipur.

Banks in Tripura, Orissa, Sikkim, Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand are closed for several consecutive days

From Sunday to Wednesday (October 2-5).

October 6 (Thursday): Durga Puja (Dasain) – Banks are closed in Gangtok, Sikkim

October 7 (Friday): Durga Puja (Dasain) – Banks are closed in Gangtok, Sikkim.

October is a festive month in India as it is marked with important celebrations and holidays. In October we have Durga Puja, Deepawali, Lakshmi Puja, Karva Chauth and many other festivals.

All private and public banks are officially closed on the second Saturday and Sunday of every month. Banks to remain closed for 21 days October 2022, including second and fourth Saturdays and Sundays. It is strongly encouraged that bank customers plan their bank-based operations keeping all these holidays in mind to prevent any confusion.
