New Delhi: logistics service provider Delhivery said on Wednesday that it has acquired Transition Robotics Inc. (TRI), is a California-based company focused on developing Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) platforms. The size of the deal was not disclosed.

All intellectual property (IP) registered in the US is assigned to Delhivery with this transaction, strengthening its capabilities in a wide range of applications, including aerial photography, remote sensing, inspection and surveys, it said in a statement. .

TRI brings together over a decade of in-depth experience with all aspects of small UAS, from hardware and software design to testing, validation and manufacturing.

“While we continue to build out our supply chain platform, we should see long-term growth poised to shape the industry,” said Kapil Bharti, Chief Technology Officer, Delhivery.

Bharti said onboarding TRI gives Delhi an opportunity to directly engage with core drone technology as regulations and use cases for drones are evolving in the country.

Founded in 2011 in Santa Cruz, California, TRI’s first product, the Quadshot, was a new type of amateur remote-controlled aircraft for the use of aerial photography and aerobatics.

In 2015, TRI unveiled the JumpShip, a fully autonomous platform that allows commercial operators to combine the operational flexibility of a multirotor with the efficient, fast flight of fixed-wing aircraft.
