government departments and reserve Bank of India ,reserve Bank of IndiaTaking coordinated steps to check Chinese mobile apps for giving easy loans and cheating people, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in Rajya Sabha on Friday. Responding to the Zero Hour issue raised by a Trinamool Congress MP, he said action has been taken against apps that are cheating people by giving loans.

The minister said that he has held several meetings with representatives of the central bank, officials and officials of his ministry in the last 6-7 months ministry of corporate affairs ,MCA) on the issue of Chinese loan apps harassing and duping people.

“Several apps that have been grossly abused have also been brought to the notice of MeiTY,” he added. “Hence a coordinated effort is being made to block such apps. And action is also being taken against those who are misusing it.”

ministry of electronics and information technology (MeiTY) is the nodal ministry that issues orders to block apps deemed harmful to the sovereignty and integrity of the country as well as citizens. “We have made focused efforts. RBI, MeitY, MCA and ministry of finance We are working to ensure that the common man is not duped by any app.” Sitharaman Added.

However, he did not say whether action was taken or how many apps were banned.

Earlier, raising the issue of illegal Chinese apps, K Nadimul Haque TMC Said that around 600 apps give small loans without much paperwork and then harass the borrowers for recovery.

Stating that a man recently committed suicide after being harassed for the recovery of a loan of Rs 3,000, he said the apps access personal information on phones including contact lists, photos and videos and can be used by borrowers. use them for blackmail.

He demanded strict action against such apps.
