As per the memorandum, gender details can be updated only once. - What if you want to make changes beyond limits?
Updating the name, gender or date of birth in the Aadhaar card more than the mandatory number of times can be done only through an exception handling procedure that may require the Aadhaar card holder to visit the UIDAI regional office. - How does the exception handling process work?
If the name, date of birth and gender are to be updated beyond the prescribed limit, the procedure is as follows: 1. One has to visit the Aadhaar Enrollment/Update Center to update his/her name, date of birth or gender. Since the update is more than the stipulated time, one has to send a request to the regional office of UIDAI through email or post to accept the update done at the enrollment centre. The person is required to explain why such request should be accepted along with a copy of the URN slip, Aadhaar details and relevant proof details. Email should be sent to [email protected]. Remember, a person is not required to go to the regional office unless specifically asked to come. The Regional Office will do due diligence and ascertain whether the update request is genuine or not. The Regional Office may ask the resident for additional information or conduct field investigations as required.4. If the Regional Office ensures that the update request is genuine, the request will be sent to the Technical Center for processing/reprocessing the request.
