Mumbai: Vivek Sunder, Swiggy’s former Chief Operating Officer (COO), has joined the online math learning platform qmath likewise CEO, according to a statement by edtech Strong.

Sundar’s appointment is two months after that
Stepped down as COO of Bangalore based food delivery company. He was one of the senior executives of Swiggy and announced the departure of the employees in July, as reported by ET.

Manan Khurma, who started the platform in 2013, will take over the role of chairman, but will “remain central” to the company’s operations, the statement said. The roles of both Manan and Sundar will be effective from October 1, 2021. They will work together for the next phase of QMath’s development plans, it said.

Backed by Google Capital and Sequoia Capital India, Cuemath is an online math and code learning platform for kids in the K-12 space. To date, it has raised over $64 million in venture funding.

In his new role, Sundar will be responsible for the overall business and oversee the expansion of QMath from the existing 20 to 50 countries. As chairman, Khurma will focus on developing pedagogy and curriculum and holistic development strategy.

Will carry forward the trajectory and become a leader in global mathematics education,” Khurma said.

Sundar, who was with Swiggy from 2018-2021, said, “I am particularly impressed by QMath’s razor-sharp focus on child learning outcomes. I am committed to democratizing mathematics and creating the next generation of thinkers. And problem solvers.”

At Swiggy, Sundar has expanded the food delivery startup’s geographic footprint to over 500 cities. Prior to Swiggy, he led P&G’s business in “Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Angola and a few other countries in the East Equatorial Africa region,” according to his LinkedIn profile.
