Bank customers who have completed their KYC verification online can make annual updates as well as any changes in their personal details online. Bank should not ask the customer to visit the branch for verification/update. There is no such rule from the Reserve Bank on this, Governor Shaktikanta Das told reporters on Wednesday.
The governor also said, similarly for those customers who have uploaded their KYC details on the Central-KYC (c-KYC) portal, should not be asked for verification by any bank. In such a case, the customer may send a mail or message to the Bank from the registered email ID or mobile number to access the KYC details from the C-KYC portal.
Deputy Governor alleges lack of awareness on front-end of banks Rabi Shankar Said that the central bank has been regularly asking banks not to bother customers with such details. Probably such things arise due to lack of awareness about the rules. Shankar Further added, any aggrieved customer may approach/write to the Banking Ombudsman in this regard.
