Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has created a new secure qr code In which demographic information and a photograph of the owner of the Aadhar card are available.

According to the UIDAI website, “The earlier QR code on the Aadhaar print-letter and e-Aadhaar contained only the demographic information of the Aadhaar number holder. UIDAI has introduced a new secure QR code which includes the demographic as well as the photograph of the Aadhaar number holder. The information in the QR code is secure and tamper proof as it is digitally signed by UIDAI.

The unique application of UIDAI can read the newly digitally signed secure QR code and can instantly verify it against the UIDAI digital signatures. As a result, any Aadhaar fraud attempt can be quickly detected using a QR code scanner.

As per the latest tweet by UIDAI, “Any Aadhaar is verifiable online/offline. To verify offline, scan the QR code on e-Aadhaar or Aadhaar letter or AadhaarPVC card To verify online, enter 12-digits.

Scan the QR code on e-Aadhaar or Aadhar letter/PVC card. Enter and verify the 12-digit Aadhaar on the website/mAadhaar app, the tweet said.

How to Verify Aadhaar with QR Scan (Offline)

Every Aadhaar card, letter and e-Aadhaar has a secure QR code that includes name, gender, date of birth, address and a photograph of the person who holds the Aadhaar number.

Step 1: Download and open the mAadhaar app.

Step 2: Launch QR Code Scanner.

Please note that each printed Aadhar card has a QR code.

Step 3 Scan the QR code on the submitted basis.

Step 4: Verify it with the physical copy presented in front of you

How to use Secure QR Code?

According to the UIDAI website, “After the installation of the QR code application of UIDAI, the secure QR code of Aadhaar / e-Aadhaar / m-Aadhaar needs to be scanned using a physical scanner as per UIDAI specifications. After the QR code of Aadhaar is digitally verified at the backend by UIDAI and scanned QR code is verified the application will display the demographic including photo details of the resident.
