Annual Information Statement (AIS) provides a complete overview of the data for the taxpayer. AIS Displays both the reported value and the revised value i.e. value, taking into account the response of the taxpayer.

What is Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS)

Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) is an information summary for a taxpayer that is aggregated by category. Under each information category, it displays the processed value i.e. the value produced as a result of duplication of information based on pre-established rules and derived value i.e. the value obtained on the processed value and taking into account the taxpayer’s response. The information derived in the TIS will be used for filing the return, if applicable. You will be shown various details in the Taxpayer Information Summary such as,

• Information Category

• Processed Value

• Derived Value

In addition, the following information is shown within an information category:

• The part through which the information was received

• Information details

• Source of information

• Zodiac Details

• Amount (Reported, Processed, Derived)

Step 1: Log in to the Income Tax Portal

Step 2: Go to ‘Services’ and click on Annual Information Details

Step 3: Click on ‘Proceed’ and click on the tab ‘AIS’

Step 4: In the next page, click on ‘Taxpayer Information Details’

Step 5: Click on ‘Download’ tab

The PDF you download will be password protected.

What is the password to open TIS?

To open the file you need to enter PAN (in lower case) and date of incorporation or formation for non-individual taxpayers or date of birth for individual taxpayers in ddmmyyyy format. For example, if your PAN is AAAAA1234A and your date of birth is 21 January 1991, your password would be aaaaa1234a21011991.

Once you have downloaded the TIS, you will get a statement that includes the disclaimer: “The Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) contains information currently available with the Income Tax Department. There may be other transactions relating to the taxpayer that are currently are not displayed in the Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS).The taxpayer is expected to check all relevant information and report complete and accurate information income tax return,
