fintech unicorn razorpay announced on Wednesday that its co-founders Shashank Kumar Leaving his current role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and will now become Managing Director of the startup
worth $7.5 billion,

Murali Brahmadesam, Ex-Executive Amazon Web Services ,AWS), will take over as CTO and head of engineering in place of Kumar.

Brahmadesam has over two decades of experience and brings together in-depth knowledge of managing diverse technology functions at scale, the company said in a statement.

Prior to Razorpay, he worked at Amazon and Microsoft in both India and the US in various leadership roles.

“Engineering has been the driving force for Razorpay since its inception. With an over 800-member engineering team today, we are relentlessly working towards solving some of the toughest challenges businesses face today, With innovation at its core. Murali brings in an in-depth knowledge of managing large scale technology functions. I am excited to have him on board at a time when Razorpay is foraying into global markets and combining its expertise with all things further deepening of business payments and business banking,” Kumar said.

Founded in 2014 by IIT Roorkee graduates Harshil Mathur and Kumar, it competes with B2B neobanking platforms such as OpenGL and payment gateways such as PayU, Billdesk, etc.
