The machine is nothing but a “deep science innovation that generates oxygen that is 3.5 times purer than what would normally be obtained from a concentrator”, said startup venture co-founder Dr. Soumyajit Roy and his wife Dr. pei liang claimed on Thursday.
The device was selected by the department Biotechnology To exhibit and launch at its 10th Foundation Day and 1st Bio-Tech Expo 2022.
“The pressure swing adsorption method for producing oxygen works with the liquefaction of air, while the concentrator is driven by a compressor through a concentration of air and then passing it through a catalyst. In these two processes, the air from Oxygen is generated. Our one option is technology,” said Roy, professor at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata.
He said his innovation is called Pneumatically Coupled Water Oxidation by Electrocatalytic Reaction (Power) in which a life-saving gas is produced from water.
This machine was one of the products that was featured in a book released to commemorate 75 years of independence by Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of Science and Technology.

“This technology is patented, and approved by the World Health Organization and European Conformity,” he claimed, adding that the scientific couple are in discussions with various organizations to license the device and manufacture and market it.
“The product is a sleek white pinewood box, weighing 8kg, that delivers oxygen when a switch is pressed and runs on electricity and also with 3.5 hours of battery back-up,” said Pei Liang, a medical graduate from Huazhong he said. University of Science and Technology in China.
In an event jointly organized by West Bengal Electronics Industries Development Corporation Ltd, he said that the device can be simplified and scaled up.

“We are actively considering proposals to manufacture and market an oxygen generating device. We are positive about the technology and impressed by its simplicity. A girl or a boy can operate the device. Considering the progress made, the device is expected to be commercialized in the next three months,” said Sunrita Hazra, Managing Director, West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited (Webel).
The Incubation Center, a joint initiative of Weibel and Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has incubated around 54 companies over the years, including around 18 entities that are currently undergoing the process. Unit’s mentor Kalyan Kar said.
Of the companies that completed the incubation process, 10-12 commercial reached the state, he said, adding that many companies from Tier II and III cities of the state have approached the Center and the participation of women entrepreneurs is also important. PTI BDC RG RG
