Asian Development Bank (Asian Development Bank) has sanctioned around Rs 3,752 crore funding Government to enhance the quality of School Mitigating the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on education and students’ learning.

ADB has approved a USD 500 million (approximately Rs 3,752 crore) loan to the Government of India to help improve the country’s school quality. Education and mitigating the impact of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic on students’ learning, ADB said on Thursday.

The loan supports the Integrated Scheme for School Education (Samagra Shiksha) and the new Exemplary School Initiative of the Ministry of Education (MoE) to improve the quality of education by focusing on inclusive and equitable learning outcomes.

ADB said that about 1,800 government schools in the states of Assam, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand will be converted into exemplary schools.

Exemplary schools will showcase quality learning environment and effective teaching, which will become a model for replication in other government schools across India.
